Read the news, trying to find the proof that affordable, easy to access childcare is THE solution to mothers, single or not, getting a fair deal at work…well it seems it is a bit more complicated than that:

My easiest point of reference is France, being French myself. I see and hear my friends moan at the French system and how they have to pay at least Euros5.00 for a day at the nursery provided by their company. Needless to say my sympathy threshold is rather low, but I lend an ear, as friends do.

Getting back to the news, the French do have one of the cheapest, most accessible childcare systems in the world; even the BBC says so. Therefore, French women should be sorted, skipping back to work after 6 months spent with the lovely children who will be raised fantastically well with the most polished table manners…
